Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson: "Honoring Our Family Stories"
When Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson was a young girl, she inherited the shells her grandfather collected in Japanese American incarceration sites in Hawai'i during World War II. These shells inspired her newest children's book, SHELL SONG, a story of finding and collecting pieces of hope, even in the darkest of times---as well as a museum exhibit about her family story. Sharon will read her book and share ideas about how all of us can honor our family stories, for ourselves and for the generations after us.

Sharon Fujimoto-Johnson is a children's book author-illustrator, poet, and fourth generation Japanese American. Her books are THE MOCHI MAKERS and SHELL SONG, and her poems are included in the anthology THE GATE OF MEMORY: POEMS BY DESCENDANTS OF NIKKEI WARTIME INCARCERATION. She is a graduate of Pacific Union College. You can learn about Sharon and her books at: www. sharonfj.com
